National Geographic-Lindblad Expedition: Alaska — Sitka to Juneau

Our expedition from Sitka to Juneau was far more than a cruise—it was an intimate journey into one of the last great wildernesses on Earth. Aboard a small expedition ship, we ventured where larger vessels cannot, exploring secluded fjords, pristine inlets, and untouched coastlines by Zodiac and kayak, always surrounded by breathtaking scenery.

Each day brought extraordinary encounters with Alaska's abundant wildlife. Brown bears foraged along salmon-filled streams, humpback whales breached in icy waters, sea otters floated peacefully in kelp forests, Steller sea lions basked on rocky outcroppings, and bald eagles soared overhead. Every excursion offered a front-row seat to nature's grandeur.

Towering tidewater glaciers calved into sapphire-blue waters, ancient temperate rainforests invited quiet exploration, and the dramatic peaks of the Inside Passage created an ever-changing backdrop. Guided by an exceptional team of naturalists, photographers, and historians, we gained a deeper understanding of Alaska's unique ecosystems, rich Indigenous heritage, and dynamic geology.

The journey blended adventure with discovery. Whether cruising silently through mist-covered fjords, hiking through moss-draped forests, or watching bears from a respectful distance, every moment felt personal and authentic. The small-ship experience fostered camaraderie among fellow travelers and allowed us to experience Alaska not as tourists, but as explorers.
